Customer story: Rain Rosin and his journey in Combat Ready training
What was your main reason for joining Combat Ready course?
Rain Rosin, Property Manager at Eften Capital, shared that his journey to Combat Ready training started back in 2019 when he read the book‘Extreme Ownership’ published by Äripäev. When he heard about the training, he was attracted by the advertisements he saw on social media and by a personal connection – his son had participated in the training through the Student Militia.
“I was a little bit prepared because I knew that a period of economic downturn is always the best time for self-development.” shares Rain. But his main reason was deeper than that, “Some important things weren’t working and I couldn’t figure out how to change them myself to make things work more smoothly.”
What were your expectations before the training?
Rain admits that his initial expectations were more modest than what he actually experienced. “During the first day of training on the Combat Ready platform, I had already made the decision to build up at least a year’s worth of training for myself,” he recalls. Rain believed that if the system worked on the book, it could work for him.
What were your preconceptions before the training?
“I thought I’d be the oldest one in the course,” laughs Rain. But he adds: “In hindsight, what’s the difference?” 😊
How did the Combat Ready training affect you personally and professionally?
Rain says that the biggest lesson of the first training was the realization that everything – even problems – starts with him. “My health has been a lot better because there’s no more stress,” he says. Even in situations where not all relationships can be saved, knowing that you’ve done your best is reassuring.
Can you share a specific situation where the skills you learned in Combat Ready helped you?
Rain highlights the principle of PLAN AND MOVE, which means giving team members the opportunity to act according to their own plan. “Everybody won, but I didn’t get all the glory on my own,” he says, describing a valuable lesson. Rain has also embraced a new approach in her daily work, using a new vocabulary, clear objectives and strategies in negotiations.
What was your favourite part of Combat Ready?
Rain highlights two moments:
- In the summer of 2024, at FTX, a simulation of the CQB hangar where his team made the strategic decision to withdraw, thus saving resources.
- Repeated listening to the Academy lectures, which reinforced knowledge and helped to discover new nuances.
Who would you recommend Combat Ready training to and why?
“For those who haven’t yet been reached by accountability training,” Rain replies. He believes that the best results are achieved when the whole company is involved in the training process. “Younger people have less experience and can therefore be more vulnerable,” he adds, while stressing that there is always room for improvement in older age.
How would you describe Combat Ready in one sentence?
“An adventurous opportunity to learn to take responsibility for your life and your surroundings, and thereby gain the freedom to manage your future, your actions and your relationships to a level that everyone has dreamed of being part of,” Rain sums up her experience.
